Every federal employee deserves to be paid accurately and on time. That is why we have committed to building a new human resources and pay solution that meets the needs of employees. We know the Next Gen HR and pay solution cannot come fast enough but we must take the time to get this right.

As part of our ongoing work to explore a future HR and pay solution for the government, I wanted to update you on the important progress we’ve made.

In my new role as President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government, one of the most important and exciting projects I’m responsible for is the design of a new process for developing the Government of Canada’s Next Generation HR and Pay solution.

The most satisfying part of public service and political life is taking on complex and difficult problems and seeing those efforts produce results for Canadians. It is a great honour to be named President of the Treasury Board, and with it comes the great responsibility of leading Canada’s world-class public service.

As part of our ongoing work to explore a future HR and pay solution for the government, I wanted to update you on our progress, particularly in terms of our efforts to engage and consult.

Things are moving quickly with everyone here in the NextGen team, and we’re making good progress in exploring options for a new HR and Pay solution for the Government of Canada.

In my last blog in August, “Next Generation HR and Pay, and how we’re going to do things differently”, I invited people to submit their thoughts on what a next-generation pay system should be capable of, and how it should work.

As the President recently announced, the Government of Canada is taking steps towards the creation of a new pay system. It’s important and exciting work, and we’re committed to doing things differently.
