Thanks to all of you who participated in sharing your ideas on what you’d like to see in Canada’s 4th National Action Plan on Open Government for 2018-2020! We heard from over 9,500 of you both online and in person and have received over 5,000 comments, ideas and questions.
We’re now working to carefully analyze all of your ideas, and we have started the process of co-creating draft commitments based on the key themes and ideas we’ve been hearing. Our initial plan was to have draft commitments available for public comment on May 9th. However, through our work with the Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Open Government (MSF) we realized that this might not be enough time to meaningfully co-create and publish draft commitments for public comment.
We discussed these concerns and decided to change our timelines. We’re now working closely with the MSF to bring together external stakeholders and Government of Canada public servants to work together on drafting commitments.
What this means is that you can expect to see draft commitments for comment over the next few months. We really want to make sure this plan is one that reflects your priorities and what we heard from you, so this will be your chance to make sure we got it right before we finalize the plan and start implementing it over the next two years.
We’re really excited to dig into the ideas you provided and to work with our colleagues inside and outside government to create a targeted, ambitious plan that will open up government.
